What are some tips for using synthetic paper?

If you’ve ever wanted to make your documents to last longer without needing to laminate them, you should consider printing them on synthetic paper. This is a special kind of paper that’s made out of plastic but it has the look and feel of regular paper. Using synthetic paper is pretty easy but there are a few things you should keep in mind to get the best results. Here are some tips for using synthetic paper:

  • Leave the sheets in the original packaging until you’re ready to use them.
  • Make sure to fan them before placing them in the feed tray of your copier or printer. Hold the paper by its edges so you don’t smudge it with fingerprints.
  • If you need to trim the paper, make sure you do so after it’s been printed. Whatever your cutter’s trimming capacity is, cut only half of what’s recommended since this paper is pretty thick.
  • You can’t use synthetic paper with an ink-jet printer. Thus, you’ll need to have access to a copier or printer that uses toner.
  • Finally, return any unused sheets to the original packaging so they’ll be in good shape when you need them.
